I was in church yesterday and they were praying for people and the people were falling when prayed for, so a question came to mind … what really causes people to fall? Is it the Holy Spirit or the anxiety of being prayed for and expectation to fall? … Really, what happens?
Let's talk about the most anointed guy ever, the most filled of the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:15), even One with the Holy Spirit, the only begotten Son of God Himself: JESUS the Christ.
There was no youtube in His time, no camera either for recording, but by the leading of the Holy Spirit, the One that people (self-called leading a 'revival') claim to have, the disciple wrote down the life of Jesus, the part that we need to know (John 21:25).
Did the encounter with He, the King of kings and Lord of lords (1 Tim 6:14-16), under anointing (as He was all the time) made people fall? YES
- Demonic: Luke 9:42; Mark 1:26
- Those that came to seize Him at Gethsemane: John 18:6
- Saul and his follower persecuting, killing Christians: Acts 26:14
- John, out of fear (the Lord said ‘Fear not’ afterward) seeing the Glory of Jesus, fell at His feet as a dead (not as having crisis). Rev 1:17
- During the transfiguration of Jesus, the disciples hearing the voice of God out of the cloud, fell on their face (not on their back), and were so afraid. Mat 17:6
- Daniel was in a deep sleep on his face toward the ground (not on his back, again). Dan 8:18
- Ezekiel seeing the Glory of the LORD fell upon his face (face again!). Eze 1:28
No one fell because of any anointing of the Holy Spirit, they fell because
- They are doing something wrong and put to shame (Psa 27:2), or
- They are possessed by the devil.
Or, for the other set of people
- They are afraid, if to not say are not able to face the glory of God, putting their face toward the ground as dead. Why face down is matter, because first it was clearly mentioned, and secondly that’s what you do as an act of reverence. Have you ever imagined someone worship his king with a position like: lying on the back, without any form of respect at all, some of them have to be covered because the devil wants even to show their nakedness!!!
